Telus announces 'Gigabit' network speeds in Edmonton

Telus announced a $1 billion investment to roll out an infrastructure that could eventually offer gigabit internet speeds to all residences and businesses in Edmonton.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out and what pricing is set for this service.

Maybe your next router should have Gigabit WAN (wide area network) ports !?!?

Attending the QuickBooks Online Accountant update webinar!

Checking out all the new features of QuickBooks Online Accountant edition, and how my clients can benefit!

Here are some of the features that I found most interesting/helpful:

  • new inventory enhancements in the next couple of months, probably get us close to features in the desktop version
  • box.com free account integration for storing documents, clients can upload
  • better wholesale pricing for my clients - 50% discount off posted rates for life, and clients can have unlimited users

Windows 10

If you have Windows 7 or 8, you probably have already noticed the Windows icon popping up in your notification area of the task bar.

Windows 10 is a free upgrade to most users of Windows 7 and 8.  If you click on the notification you will be able to reserve the upgrade and it will be downloaded when available.  Indication is that it will only be installed at a time that you choose!

Microsoft Cloud

As a Microsoft Partner I received an email this morning about the announcement regarding Microsoft to "deliver locally hosted Microsoft Cloud services –Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online – from Canada!"

It's still early, put hopefully this will result in better pricing for Canadian small businesses who operate in the cloud.

Can the other providers be far behind?
